The Origin of Fallen Fawn Foundation
Fallen Fawn Foundation is a testament to the transformative power of faith and resilience in the face of adversity. Our story begins with Jessie Petry’s journey through unimaginable trauma, a journey that left deep wounds but also sparked a profound spiritual awakening. Jessie, once wounded and broken, found solace and strength in her faith, emerged as a beautiful fawn, symbolizing her strength and determination to grow and develop despite the challenges. However, her path to transformation was hindered by the lack of education, support, and advocacy in addressing the affliction of child sexual abuse.
It is from Jessie’s legacy, from her pain, faith, and perseverance that Fallen Fawn Foundation was born. Rooted in Christian values of compassion, love, and justice, our foundation is committed to supporting victims, empowering survivors, and advocating for a world free from sexual violence. Through prayer, education, financial support, advocacy, and community action, we strive to honor our fallen fawn’s journey and all those who have been affected by child sexual abuse. Together, we can turn pain into purpose and create a brighter future for generations to come.
History
Sexual violence against children is a global pandemic. As many as 29% of male children and 36% of female children have suffered sexual violence. It is considered the most under-reported violence crime, with between 74 to 81 percent of cases never being reported to the police. In approximately 85% of sexual violence cases, the crime is committed by someone close to or known to the victim.
Sexual violence against children and adolescents has been show to impart severe psychological, health, and social problems. Short-term and long-term consequences include: depression, substance abuse, suicide, social withdrawal, attachment disorders, self-harm, eating disorders, and low self-esteem, among others. Sadly, these problems are only a few of the many coping mechanisms that children and adolescents develop to survive the reality of continual sexual violence.
